PERFUSION

Perfusion is the passage of fluid through organs and tissues via the bloodstream. During cardiac surgeries, perfusion must be conducted by a heart-lung machine, which continues the blood-pumping function so surgeons can operate on the heart.

ECMO

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) provides temporary support for patients with cardiac and/or pulmonary failure. An ECMO machine provides life support to patients whose heart and lungs can’t provide enough gas exchange or perfusion.

CARDIAC ATS

Cardiac autotransfusion (ATS) is designed to boost a hospital’s blood management program by recycling the patient’s own blood.

ANESTHESIA TECH

Anesthesia technology is a distinct health profession that focuses on the necessary clinical procedures that assist the anesthesia provider in the safe and efficient care of patients.

Critical Care Technician

Critical Care Technicians are experts in autotransfusion, and they assist with complex procedures like line placement, IABP, and nerve blocks. They work with anesthesia partners and other physicians, obtaining the equipment and products needed to assist MD’s and partners during procedures.

Perfusion Assistant

A perfusion assistant works in all aspects of procedures in both cardiac and non-cardiac surgeries. They assist with preparing equipment used by perfusionists to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow within the surgery room.

ONLINE ECMO TRAINING

As the largest ECMO provider nationwide, SpecialtyCare is excited to launch an online ECMO training platform. Designed by a team of ECMO industry experts with over 100 years combined experience, you will be able to work at your own pace in a kinesthetic learning experience.

GROUP ECMO TRAINING

SpecialtyCare offers training and education that aligns to your institution’s ECMO program goals. We believe in a strategic approach for our clients ECMO Training and Education and therefore offer three training tracks to custom fit your team’s needs.

Data & Research Makes Safer Surgery

We invented SCOPE™, the SpecialtyCare Operative Procedural Registry, the largest multi-institutional clinical database of its kind. Members of our medical office analyze case data and share the scientific findings to our clinical professionals so that the evidence-based trends and best practices can be shared with surgeons and OR teams across the nation, which also brings innovation at the local level.

SpecialtyCare also uses the medical expertise of advisory boards that include healthcare experts and industry-leading physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinicians. They work closely with our chief medical officer, as well as members of our medical office. Together, they provide:

  • Insight into perfusion, neuromonitoring, surgical assistance, and clinical technician environments
  • Recommendations to advance medical systems, including quality indicators, procedural guidelines, and improvement initiatives
  • Guidance to ensure the best possible care to our patients
  • Assistance in developing and maintaining positive relationships with the medical, perfusion, surgical assistance, and clinical technician communities
  • Collaborations that include ideas for growing hospitals’ business and for improving recruitment of clinical staff
  • Ongoing input for our continuing education programs
